Eminem Covers Dec/Jan Complex

Posted in On Newstands on December 2nd, 2009 by jayev3ryday

Eminem has been chosen for the year closing December/January issue of Complex. I’m loving the cgi background and photos with the features incorporated into the posters and signs. I’m on my way to find this now. Check out the creative process that went into the photography for his I Am Legend: Detroit shoot. You can see his whole interview, photos and video over at Complex.com.

The October/November issue of Complex Magazine is a collector’s edition with Young Jeezy and The Clipse on two separate covers. The first cover is The Clipse being shown as packaged toys with the iconic KAWS putting in his 2 artsy cents in. The second is Young Jeezy gangsta mug with the grafitti stylings of ESPO and the last is Eliza Dushku of Dollhouse. This looks like its going to be a good one. Check out Complex.com for all the interviews, behind the scene video and gallery photos. Meanwhile, I’m gong to check and see if I am still subscribed to them…

Katy Perry got one side on the June issue  of Complex Magazine and Jonah Hill gets the other. Sounds like a great issue, especially since Jonah is on his Michael “Jesus Juice” Jackson flow in this one. Check out the video of his photo shoot (which seemed fun as hell) below and all of the photos and his article over at Complex.

Katy Perry Does Complex

Posted in On Newstands on May 27th, 2009 by jayev3ryday

Seemed like forever since the last Complex mag dropped. The June issue of Complex will have Katy Perry on the front doing what she does best…BE SEXY. Check out what “type” of guys she like and the rest of the article and photos over HERE

Would you say that he’s your type?

Katy Perry: Oh God, I don’t have a type. I guess one thing that’s the same with all of the men I’ve dated is that they’re all communicators and they’re all sensitive. I have a soft spot for musicians, a guy who can write a song or say how he feels and put it into a song, and is super poetic. Travis is really good at that, and he’s just so good at lyrics that I think that’s ultimately why I was so attracted to him. But I definitely do not have a type. You know, he’s artistic and he has that natural swagger. When he puts his hat on, that’s how he puts his hat on. He doesn’t stand in the mirror for like three hours, he just puts it on. So that’s sexy.

Kanye Is Beyond Human In New Complex

Posted in On Newstands on March 23rd, 2009 by jayev3ryday

No you are not looking at the remastered cover of “Moonwalker”, lol. This is Kanye West on the upcoming issue of Complex Magazine. Here’s some excerpts from the interview which you can view over at the Complex Blog:

Why do you think there’s such a fixation on your sexuality?

Kanye West: I really think it’s because society tries to dictate the way a guy is supposed to dress and the way a guy is supposed to act, and I refuse to conform. A lot of these dudes would never be accused of being gay just because they all look exactly alike. If people could just realize the amount of mundaneness and followers that lack creativity… I think people’s mentality is like, Only gay people are that creative. And it’s true there are a lot of gay people who are incredible creative minds, but there are straight people who are incredible creative minds—and there’s gay people who can’t dress or create at all, too. Closed-minded gay people probably say they dress “straight.”

Do you live in a state of anxiety over how you are being presented to the public?

Kanye West: In no way. It’s just that if I’m working with a writer that I feel don’t got my best interest in mind, I keep on telling them, “Put this in there” or “Don’t try to make me look like a monster.” But I’m not afraid. All I can do is be the best me and learn from the mistakes that I’ve made. There are mistakes that I’ve made that I deserve for people to look at me like a complete asshole because I have been a complete asshole. All I can do is just be a better person for myself—not to prove it to anyone, but just to be a better person, period. I beat myself up, and I make mistakes, and I get past it, and I get excited about the future.

Here’s the full video from the making of the cover…
