Kaws x New York Magazine: Best Of New York 2009

New York artst KAWS is continuing to be recognized by the general media. His past works in iD Magazine and Complex Magazine were hits and are considered works of art. New York Magazine has hired him to create the cover of their upcoming 2009 Best Of New York issue. This issue is coming out on March 2nd. I will definitely be making that trip to Borders to get me a copy..

Visit To Kaws Exhibit

Yesterday me and my homeboy D.A. went to the Gering and Lopez Gallery on 5th Ave Midtown to check out Kaws’ exhibit before it left NYC. I really have to respect this guy, I knew created these paintings but we got to take a good look at the painting and each one of them were painted to perfection. We asked the lady at the front desk about the price and she said that the Bronzed painted heads of Kaws wer going for $25,000 each..EACH! And each of them were sold before they even went on display. Crazy but understandable.. Check out the rest

Kaws theme this time was based on the Spongbob Squarepants.
This painting amongst the others were going for $45,000

I can only imagine how much this Kaws Companion is going for. I was afraid to ask. lol.

The exhibit will be going on until the 23rd..Check it out if you have time.
